In Section A, the theme that runs through all of our ideas is Informing the Public. We believe that a huge part of why fisheries depletion is a problem is lack of general knowledge. By informing people, we can raise awareness about the issue and get people interested. Many people just don't understand the size of this problem, and simple information could change the lives of fishermen, people in third-world countries, and everyday Americans in a way that many people don't comprehend. One of the incredible things about this problem is the sheer number of people who it affects-the rich, the poor, the hungry, everyone.
Here are some of our ideas of ways that we can help:
Create t-shirts with information about fisheries depletion on them, and sell them to the public. Also see fundraising for more information.
Ask local grocery stores if we could raise awareness of which fish are depleted by placing red stickers on the packages of the fish that are severely depleted, yellow stickers on the packages of the fish that are somewhat depleted, and green stickers on the packages of the fish that are not depleted.
Distribute pamphlets and flyers about which fish are safer to eat around public places (grocery stores, doctors offices, etc.)
Thank you for reading our page, and fulfill your duty to the earth by INFORMING OTHERS!
